Events Stories

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

Her interactive, public performance art scores have been performed on the streets of historically black neighborhoods from BedStuy (Brooklyn) to Brixton (London), as well as inside institutions such as the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, Houston’s Project Row Houses, the Kitchen and MoMA PS1.

Colette Gaiter, associate professor of art, Tiffany Gill, associate professor of Black American studies, and the Beauty Shop Project team have brought Cousins to UD through an Interdisciplinary Humanities Research Center (IHRC) grant.

The goal of the Beauty Shop Project is to research how popular communal spaces like black beauty shops can be locations of creativity and imagination directed toward improving quality of life. Long-term goals include promoting better health and practical life skills, proactive citizenship, and stronger communities.
