TEXT SIZE

3:38 p.m., Oct. 2, 2012--What’s your passion? If given a study grant to pursue a passionate interest in any subject, anywhere in the world, what would you do?

The Plastino Scholars Program — established in 2007 by David Plastino, a University of Delaware alumnus who wanted to give students a learning opportunity of a lifetime — allows students to answer these open-ended questions.

Events Stories

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

An interest meeting for undergraduate students considering the program will be held on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m., in 100 Sharp Laboratory.

A second interest meeting will be held Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m., also in 100 Sharp Laboratory.

The Plastino Scholars Program awards grants to undergraduate students that support self-designated, off-campus learning experiences.

At the meeting, students will have the opportunity to meet former scholars and learn about their Plastino “projects,” and receive information on how to apply.

Applications for the 2012 Plastino Scholars Program are due by Friday, Dec. 7.
