National Medal of Science

President Barack Obama recently presented the National Medal of Science to University of Delaware alumnus Rakesh Jain.

Warren Award

Rosalind Johnson, assistant dean for student success in the NUCLEUS Program in UD's College of Arts and Sciences, was presented the John Warren Excellence in Leadership and Service Award during a May 26 ceremony.

She has served as the adviser to UD’s Student Government Association for over 30 years, and is one of only three individuals and the only woman to ever hold the title of director of the University’s student unions.

To staff and colleagues throughout the University Student Centers and UD’s Division of Student Life, Prime is known as an inspiring and judicious individual, and a tireless advocate for all students at the University. A recent example of her dedication to student wellbeing can be seen in the creation of StUDent Central, a digital portal created specifically for students to connect with others who share their interests and collectively promote their programs and organizations. The portal debuted in August 2012, and gained over 5,000 active users in under one month.

“Prime’s lifelong commitment to the mission of the division is one of many qualities that make her an exemplary leader, and her recognition by such a prominent organization within the American Council on Education is well deserved,” an University Student Centers representative said, adding, “The University Student Centers are honored to have Dr. Prime’s wisdom and guidance, and congratulate her on this esteemed accomplishment.”
