Delaware ACE Women's Network honors Prime, Student Centers director
12:04 p.m., Nov. 30, 2012--Marilyn S. Prime, director of the University Student Centers at the University of Delaware, received a Recognition of Leadership Award from the Delaware ACE Women’s Network at the organization’s annual fall dinner and awards ceremony on Nov. 29.
Prime has been with UD since 1979 and throughout her tenure has been responsible for student activities, clubs and organizations, fraternities and sororities, campuswide and major event programming, student leadership development, event services and resources, WVUD 91.3FM campus radio and student media.
National Medal of Science
She has served as the adviser to UD’s Student Government Association for over 30 years, and is one of only three individuals and the only woman to ever hold the title of director of the University’s student unions.
To staff and colleagues throughout the University Student Centers and UD’s Division of Student Life, Prime is known as an inspiring and judicious individual, and a tireless advocate for all students at the University. A recent example of her dedication to student wellbeing can be seen in the creation of StUDent Central, a digital portal created specifically for students to connect with others who share their interests and collectively promote their programs and organizations. The portal debuted in August 2012, and gained over 5,000 active users in under one month.
“Prime’s lifelong commitment to the mission of the division is one of many qualities that make her an exemplary leader, and her recognition by such a prominent organization within the American Council on Education is well deserved,” an University Student Centers representative said, adding, “The University Student Centers are honored to have Dr. Prime’s wisdom and guidance, and congratulate her on this esteemed accomplishment.”
