Events Stories

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

Lopez Colon is chair of the Department of History and Fine Arts at the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico. He describes his work as attempting to create a visual dialogue between modernist painting aesthetics and the iconographic construction of colonialism in Puerto Rico.

His residency was rescheduled from late October, when it was canceled due to Hurricane Sandy and the closing of the UD campus.

The Distinguished Artist Lecture Series is sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences’ Paul R. Jones Initiative, the President's Diversity Initiative, University Museums and the Department of Art.

The project — a collaboration among the departments of Art, Music and Theatre — is designed to bring distinguished visiting artists to campus to initiate new work, advance work-in-progress and share existing work through performances, exhibits, lectures and work with students.
