Events Stories

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

Those who attend will have an opportunity to connect with leaders and alumni from non-profit, government, communication and research organizations.

On hand for the event will be UD alumnus Matt O’Donnell, weekday morning anchor for WPVI-TV Channel 6 Action News in Philadelphia.

O’Donnell, who joined the station in December 1996, majored in English at UD with a concentration in journalism and a minor in political science. He also held several positions at The Review, the student newspaper, and was a member of the staff at the campus radio station.

While a student, O’Donnell also found time to do freelance writing for the Daily Local News, a newspaper published in West Chester, Pa., and he spent two summers interning at television stations WLYH-TV in Mount Gretna, Pa., and WPVI-TV in Philadelphia.

O’Donnell has served as a morning anchor for Action News since September 2004.

Prior to the networking event, an additional student preparation workshop will be held from 5-6 p.m. in 209-211 Trabant.

This networking event is open to all UD students interested in exploring career opportunities and professional development.
