Newark AAUW branch seeks student award applicants

9:12 a.m., March 5, 2013--The Newark branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) invites students to apply for its annual $500 award to an outstanding senior woman graduating from the University of Delaware in May.

The award will be presented at the award recipient’s college convocation. The recipient will also be recognized at the May meeting of the Newark branch of AAUW.

National Medal of Science

President Barack Obama recently presented the National Medal of Science to University of Delaware alumnus Rakesh Jain.

Warren Award

Rosalind Johnson, assistant dean for student success in the NUCLEUS Program in UD's College of Arts and Sciences, was presented the John Warren Excellence in Leadership and Service Award during a May 26 ceremony.

Principal criteria include academic achievement (with a minimum index of 3.25) and leadership in volunteer service, not only on campus, but also for the greater Newark area or her home community.
