The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

The event is free and open to the public, and the lecture is part of the Graduate Student Lecture Series organized by UD’s Department of Art History.

The lecture honors the late William Innes Homer, H. Rodney Sharp Professor Emeritus of Art History at the University, who died July 8, 2012.

Also Thursday, the University Museums will host an opening reception from 5-7 p.m. in the Old College Gallery for the exhibition “Gertrude Käsebier: The Complexity of Light and Shade,” which is dedicated to Dr. Homer.

Curated by Stephen Petersen, the exhibition features some of Käsebier’s critically acclaimed work, including her expressive studies of mothers and children, portraits of early 20th century artists, as well as family photographs and landscapes.

Käsebier’s mercurial rise to prominence, her innovative techniques, and her professional renown are showcased in this exhibition of works from the University Collection.
