Georgetown professor to discuss challenges facing Burma/Myanmar

8:04 a.m., Feb. 19, 2013--David Steinberg, Distinguished Professor of Asian Studies at Georgetown University, will give a talk titled “Burma/Myanmar: Internal and External Challenges” at 4 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 21, in 202 McDowell Hall on the University of Delaware campus in Newark.

The talk is part of a speaker series sponsored by UD’s Center for Global and Area Studies (CGAS) titled “Conflict and Cooperation in the Global Arena.”

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

A former a member of the Senior Foreign Service, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Department of State, Steinberg is a frequent analyst and commentator on the politics of Myanmar/Burma. His most recent book, Burma/Myanmar: What Everyone Needs to Know, is published by Oxford University Press.
