Comedian Michael Ian Black to perform for first-year students

1:39 p.m., Aug. 22, 2012--The University of Delaware’s Student Centers Programming Advisory Board (SCPAB) will host comedian Michael Ian Black as part of the Campus Breakout on Saturday night, Aug. 25, under the tent on the central Green.

Campus Breakout starts at 8:30 p.m. as part of 1743 Welcome Days for first-year students and will feature a variety of activities in the Trabant University Center and the Perkins Student Center.

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

Black will offer an exclusive show for first-year students at 11 p.m.

Black started his comedy career in a troupe he co-founded at New York University in 1988 and went on to a successful run on MTV. He co-created the Comedy Central series Viva Variety and has been a contributor on VH1’s popular I Love Theā€¦ series.

He wrote and directed by film Wedding Daze in 2005 and released his first album of stand-up comedy, I Am a Wonderful Man, in 2007.

Black is the co-author, with Meghan McCain, of the book America, You Sexy Bitch: A Love Letter to Freedom, which was released in June. He stars in the web series Burning Love.
