Department of Black American Studies to present lecture series

7:55 a.m., Aug. 29, 2012--The University of Delaware’s Department of Black American Studies has announced the Brown Bag Lecture Series for the fall semester.

The series is free and open to the public. Each lecture will last about 30 minutes and will be followed by open discussion, which provides for a vibrant and stimulating exchange of ideas.

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

The talks are scheduled as follows:

• Thursday, Oct. 25, 3:30-5 p.m., in 206 Kirkbride Hall, "The 2012 Elections: Who Wins, Who Loses and Why It Matters,” a dialogue with UD faculty members Ted Davis, Jr., and Davis Wilson, both associate professors in the Department of Political Science and International Relations.

• Monday, Nov. 12, 12:20-1:10 p.m., in 203 Munroe Hall, "Ways of Seeing: Native Land Acts and Contemporary South Africa," featuring Julie L. McGee, curator of African American art with UD’s University Museums.
