“We all have a gay family member, close friend or roommate," said Brenna Crombie, communications director of the UD Democrats. "We recognize that they love as we love and have a right to express that love in legally recognized marriage. The College Democrats are proud to support the efforts of Equality Delaware at the University of Delaware. We hope we can help make the first steps, together, toward equality.”
Jessica Snyder, director of public relations for Haven, said, "Haven, the University of Delaware's LGBTQ registered student organization, fully supports Equality Delaware and their campaign for same-sex marriage. Marriage is a human right. LGBTQ equality also goes beyond the issue of marriage. Our goal is also to protect the rights of all citizens, prevent discrimination based on gender identity and provide resources to LGBTQ youth. Standing with Equality Delaware on these issues is one part of that effort.”
