May 6: Be the Match
UD football team to host Be the Match bone marrow registry event
8:50 a.m., April 30, 2013--The University of Delaware football team will host the fifth annual Be the Match bone marrow registry event from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday, May 6, in Multipurpose Room C of the Trabant University Center.
Every year, thousands of people are diagnosed with blood related illnesses and they rely on the National Bone Marrow Registry to match them with donors to save their lives.

Entering the registry only requires some paper work and a simple mouth swab, which is less then a 20-minute process. For those who are matched with someone in the registry, a blood plasma donation is all it takes 75 percent of the time.
In the past five years, the Fightin’ Blue Hens have entered more than 1,000 people in the National Bone Marrow Registry through the Get in the Game Save a Life program.
To celebrate the five-year anniversary, UD is hoping to register 600 people. Students, faculty, staff and members of the community are invited to attend the event.
