"Last year was the first year that SAAC hosted the athlete talent show," said Alissa Alker, senior volleyball player and president of SAAC. "It was an exhilarating experience, and it was completely worth it when the Special Olympics members came to the stage and performed. Seeing them so happy really pulled at everyone's heart strings. It made all the hard work we put into the show worth it because 100 percent of the proceeds went to Special Olympics Delaware.
"An added bonus was seeing the UD athletes grow closer together to develop our athletic community. Sometimes we all get caught up in our schedules and forget that we are a part of more than just our team," she said. "We represent University of Delaware Athletics wherever we go, and this event helped us associate more closely with a feeling of community. This year it is our goal to increase student and fan attendance."
There will be a minimum donation of $5 at the door.
