UD's world-renowned violinist, Xiang Gao, will perform

9:05 a.m., Sept. 9, 2011--Internationally renowned University of Delaware faculty violinist Xiang Gao will perform an opening concert for the 2011 Energy and Sustainability Conference at 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 15, in the Gore Recital Hall of the Roselle Center for the Arts.

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

Gao will perform on the University's 1794 Ceruti violin and direct the multimedia concert event. Based on the material from iMusic 3 - Ode to Earth, which Gao created and performed to celebrate Earth Day in 2010, this event will feature similar repertoire with newly arranged music and revised multimedia effects.

Gao will perform selections from Beethoven's Spring Sonata, Vivaldi's Four Seasons (violin concerto), Bach's solo sonatas and partitas, tango music by Astor Piazzolla, Sunshine over the Tashikuergan Prairie by Chinese composer Gang Chen and Dvorak's Romance in F minor, among other master pieces.
