Williams is a prodigious artist whose playing knows no limits. He has performed, recorded and collaborated with jazz giants Chick Corea, Branford Marsalis, Wynton Marsalis, Herbie Hancock, Nancy Wilson, Miles Davis, Sarah Vaughan and Count Basie, to name a few.
Williams' father, Charles Anthony Williams, Sr., a bassist, worked various day jobs to support his five children and at night played gigs to support his musical spirit. "He would prepare my lessons for me," Buster Williams recalls, "and when I got home from school I was supposed to practice, then he would listen while he was eating his dinner. In those days, instead of a two-car family, we were a two-bass family."
Tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for senior adults and $3 for students and can be purchased in advance. Contact the box office at 302-831-2204.
Williams will present a master class at 1:25 p.m., Friday, Nov. 4, in Loudis Recital Hall.
