Warren Award

Rosalind Johnson, assistant dean for student success in the NUCLEUS Program in UD's College of Arts and Sciences, was presented the John Warren Excellence in Leadership and Service Award during a May 26 ceremony.

To compile the list, the magazine polled theatre insiders and members of the Casting Society of America.

“We are especially gratified to be on this list because it was based on the assessments of theatre professionals and top casting directors," said Sanford Robbins, chairperson of UD's Department of Theatre. "It is a very big honor and an indication of how strongly the PTTP contributes to UD’s Path to Prominence.

The section on UD quotes Robbins, “It has only one class of students at a time, and each gets full attention.” Tom Hewitt and Linda Balgord are listed as notable alumni.

Other schools featured in the article include the Actors Studio at Pace University, Carnegie Mellon, the Juilliard School, London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, Northwestern University, the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, UCLA, the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and the Yale University School of Drama.

About the Professional Theatre Training Program

The Professional Theatre Training Program offers a three-year program of conservatory training leading to the master of fine arts degree.  Students are trained in one of two areas: acting and technical production.  Training is focused on plays from the classic repertoire, from William Shakespeare to George Bernard Shaw to Tennessee Williams.   In the final year of training, students become members of UD’s professional theatre company, the Resident Ensemble Players (REP).
