May 8: 'Wings' dedication
New sculpture in Mentors' Circle to be dedicated
4:47 p.m., May 4, 2012--Members of the University of Delaware community are invited to attend the dedication of "Wings of Thought," the new sculpture in Mentors' Circle, at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 8.
The sculpture by noted artist Richard Deutsch commemorates UD's commitment to learning and scholarship, and honors the Rev. Francis Alison, who founded the 18th century academy that became the University of Delaware.

June 5: Blue Hen 5K
University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.
June 6-9: Food and culture series
The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.
Speaking at the event will be UD President Patrick Harker; Janet Hethorn, who co-chaired the selection committee; Carol Hoffecker, who served as a Francis Alison Society representative to the committee; Molly Sullivan, president of the Student Government Association and a member of the committee; and Deutsch.
