Trumpeter Breedlove, UD jazz ensembles to perform

10:12 a.m., March 5, 2012--Noted trumpet player Graham Breedlove will join the University of Delaware Jazz Ensembles I and II in concert at 8 p.m., Thursday, March 15, in the Loudis Recital Hall of the Amy E. du Pont Music Building.

Tickets cost $12 for adults, $8 for senior adults and $3 for students and will be available in advance.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

AllAboutJazz.com has called Breedlove "a trumpet player with an exquisite tone and provocative harmonic ideas," adding that he "exhibits great control and cranks out some head-turning melodic ideas." 

Also active as a composer, Breedlove's work has been featured on NBC's Today show and Food Network's Emeril Live

Breedlove has performed with headliners representing more than fifty Grammy Nominations. Among these are the Saturday Night Live Band, Ray Charles, Wynton Marsalis, Tito Puente, James Moody and Arturo Sandoval.

Currently, Breedlove is a trumpet soloist with the Army Blues jazz ensemble, part of The United States Army Band Pershing's Own. He has appeared as a soloist, composer/arranger or lead player on the Army Blues' three most recent CDs, 25th Anniversary Concert (featuring New York Voices), Things Ain't What They Used to Be and With Gratitude.
