UD seniors, alumni invited to two-day education job fair at Bob Carpenter Center


8:46 a.m., March 21, 2012--For those who want help finding a job in the field of education, Teach in Delaware Day and Project Search give University of Delaware seniors and alumni two days to discover the occupational possibilities for next school year. 

Held on Tuesday, April 17, and Wednesday, April 18, the event brings recruiters to campus to meet and interview prospective teachers, counselors, administrators, and specialists for fall 2012 vacancies.

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

“This event will give me the opportunity to meet with school districts from all over the region and make a strong first impression," said Stephanie Lafergola, a graduate student who plans to teach special education. “I will be able to network with many school district personnel in hopes of finding a teaching position for next fall.”

On Tuesday, April 17, from 10 a.m.–3 p.m., representatives from Delaware schools will be at the Bob Carpenter Center to discuss fall 2011 opportunities with graduating seniors and alumni from UD.

Participating school districts include: Appoquinimink, Caesar Rodney, Colonial, Milford, New Castle County Vo-Tech, Woodbridge and more.  Also on hand will be representatives from Delaware Autism Program; Delaware Department of Services for Children, Youth and their Families; Gateway Lab School; Kuumba Academy; Odyssey Charter School, and others.  

On Wednesday, April 18, from 8 a.m.–5 p.m., representatives from schools and organizations from the mid-Atlantic region and nearby areas will be at the Bob Carpenter Center to conduct interviews or provide informal employment information. This event is open to all candidates and registration is required.  Candidates are asked to contact Stacy Purse for registration instructions at 302-831-8570.
