University's The College School to host Science Fair

9:25 a.m., Jan. 18, 2012--What is the most critical element to plant growth – light, water, soil? Students at The College School at the University of Delaware have been spending the past few weeks conducting experiments to answer questions such as this and many others for their annual Science Fair project.

The teachers and students in grades 5-8 invite the UD community to attend their fifth annual College School Science Fair on Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 1-2:30 p.m., in Rooms 132/133 at 461 Wyoming Road, next door to The College School.

June 5: Blue Hen 5K

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

Students have been working diligently this semester conducting research in areas such as plant growth, consumer studies, decomposition, magnets and electricity.

Students and staff utilized the inquiry process as they designed and planned each project, conducted experiments, collected data, analyzed results and created presentations. The young scientists will be on hand to present their boards and discuss their work.

About The College School

The College School a specialized school within the University of Delaware’s College of Education and Human Development that supports children in grades 1-8 with learning differences. Teachers understand the issues faced by students struggling with learning, attention and/or mild social, emotional or behavioral issues and are dedicated to helping children become successful learners.

Classes for the 2012-13 school year are forming now, however, students are accepted on a rolling basis, when space is available. For more information, visit The College School website.
