
Oct. 24: 'Ugly Betty' star to appear
Actress America Ferrera to speak as part of Latino Heritage Month
12:53 p.m., Aug. 25, 2011--Actress America Ferrera, the Emmy Award-winning star of the hit television series Ugly Betty, will speak at 7 p.m., Monday, Oct. 24, in the Multipurpose Rooms of the Trabant University Center at the University of Delaware.
Ferrera, who is a native of Los Angeles, will speak as part of the Latino Heritage Month Extravaganza.

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.
June 6-9: Food and culture series
The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.
In addition to the Emmy, Ferrera has won Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild awards for her portrayal of Betty Suarez in Ugly Betty. Film credits include The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Lords of Dogtown and Our Family Wedding.
