Islamic Studies Program sets special screening of film

9:18 a.m., April 14, 2011--The University of Delaware Islamic Studies Program and Area Studies will sponsor a screening of the film My Tehran for Sale on Tuesday, May 3. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 5-6:30 p.m. in Room 205 Gore Hall.

My Tehran for Sale centers on the lives of a generation of young urban Iranians who are struggling for cultural freedom.

University of Delaware graduates planning to attend Alumni Weekend are encouraged to register for the annual Blue Hen 5K walk and run, which will be held Sunday morning, June 5.

June 6-9: Food and culture series

The 20th annual June Lecture Series at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UD in Wilmington will be held June 6-9. Titled 'June a la Carte,' this year's program focuses on great political documents, feminism, world politics and a Newark cuisine sampler.

A story based on a young female actress and her fight to express herself artistically, the film depicts how Iranian people are forced to live their lives behind closed doors. 

The film, which was shot “under the radar” on location in Tehran in 2009, will be introduced by Rudi Matthee, Distinguished Professor of History and director of the Islamic Studies Program.
