Ag Day is held on the grounds of Townsend Hall, located at 531 South College Avenue in Newark. The event is organized by staff and students, with the support of more than 80 organizations. The money raised at Ag Day is geared toward giving back to student and community organizations.
Fun for the UD community and visitors of all ages, Ag Day also includes pony rides, hayride farm tours, a petting zoo, YoUDee, face painting, and lots of great food. Following the Ag Day tradition, there will be a variety of educational workshops and live entertainment.
Along with educational presentations and demonstrations about gardening, sheep shearing, stink bugs and bees, there will be two free-flight bird shows presented by experts, including UD CANR alumnus Phung T. Luu of Behavior and Training Solutions, LLC.
Live music will be provided by DJ Dolamarx, Tater Patch, The Hook, The Common Room, Dodging Cupid and The Racket Boys.
Didn’t get to the Philadelphia Flower Show this year? UD’s award-winning flower show exhibit from the event will be at Ag Day this year.
Those with an interest in gardening will want to visit the many plant sales, hosted by the UD Botanic Gardens, UD Horticulture Club and New Castle County Master Gardeners. The sales offer a variety of annual and perennial flowers, fruit and vegetable plants, shrubs and trees that are sure to add flare to any lawn or garden.
Admission and parking for Ag Day are free and open to the public, with minimal charges for food. Parking is available in the lots at the Fred Rust Ice Arena, Delaware Field House and the future Science and Technology campus, formerly the Chrysler site.
