The XC editor on UNIX: Part 5

Special Key Functions

Special functions have been assigned to keys such as program function keys (PF1-PF12), INSERT, DELETE, BACKSPACE, arrow keys, and combinations of ESC or CTRL and a character (ESC 2, CTRL-A). This section defines the key functions and their actions, describes which keyboard keys to press, and points out differences between different terminal types.

Note 1.     Depending on the configuration of telnet or HyperTerminal, the "character-delete" key may be any of DELETE, BACKSPACE, or CTRL-BACKSPACE. (Macintosh users should also try OPTION-BACKSPACE.) See the discussion in Part 4.1 for details.
Note 2.     The "insert" function may be performed using the INSERT key or by pressing ESC then the I key. See Part 4.1.
Note 3.     You may need to use the ESC key sequences (ESC 5 through ESC =) for the PF5 through PF12 functions.
