Installing Secure Shell for the Macintosh

Secure Shell (SSH) is a program that lets you log into your account on a computer connected to the Internet. Unlike a regular "Telnet" client, SSH establishes a secure connection between the computers by encrypting your password and other data.

  1. Use your web browser to transfer the file from the Network Connection CD or from the UD Software Distribution web site.
  2. Depending on how you have your computer set up, the installation file may open automatically. If it does not, locate the icon for MacSSH PPC 2.1fc3.sea on your computer's desktop and double-click.

The exact name of the icon will vary as newer versions of MacSSH become available.
  3. In the Aladdin Systems window, click Continue.

  4. Select a location for the MacSSH folder.

  5. When you see the message that UnStuffing was successful!, click Quit.

  6. Locate the MacSSH folder on your computer.

You are now ready to follow the instructions for using SSH on a Macintosh.
