Responsibility-Based Budgeting (RBB) @ the University of Delaware

The University will be kicking off its first year of RBB beginning July 1, 2009 (FY 2010). This site is designed to provide the University community with frequent updates and general information about the implementation, resources for financial managers and an opportunity to contact the Budget Office directly with any questions, ideas or comments about this process. Information on this site will continue to be developed and updated as we move along the implementation timeline. We encourage you to check back often.

Responsibility-Based Budgeting is a financial management philosophy that supports achievement of the highest academic priorities; decentralizes decision-making; and aligns authority, responsibility and accountability for both revenues and expenditures. UD’s leadership recognizes that providing an environment where decision makers are rewarded through incentives, has much greater potential to move the University forward than a traditional expense-oriented budgeting environment.

Properly and consistently applied, RBB will contribute to a higher quality, more competitive and more prominent University of Delaware!
