Comment:  There are a number of templates to choose from. They are ok looking, maybe a bit on the basic side.

Comment:  Not a lot of great template options, but ok. Not the best graphic quality when printing, gives a warning about that but fonts should print fine.  Screen resolution based projects create small output on many of the templates, but there is a custom page-size option.

Comment: base layouts seem well designed and good looking with lots of style options.
There are some extra design tools including a basic photo editor, color palette, and font combo helper. The library has hundreds of elements, many are free, premium elements may have a cost but never more than $1.

Piktochart 

  • Has over 600 templates for infographics, presentations, reports, banners and printable formats.  4000 images and icons
  • They offer support by way of  wiki docs, videos and blog posts.
  • Can upload 400MB of your own images.
  • Templates are drag and drop style
  • Presentations can be presented on line in slideshow mode.
  • Your projects can be saved and shared in Social media, HTML code for websites or mail links.
  •  Downloaded as JPG, PNG, PDF in a range of different resolutions formats.
Pricing
Educational pricing costs $39.99 for a 12 month PRO subscription. This gives access to all Piktochart templates, graphics and features. 

There is also  a bulk-purchase discount for a minimum of 20 users  (9.00 per user) - this is aimed at groups of students. The minimum term of subscription is 4 months. There is also a annual subscriptions available.
Classroom Pro for 30 accounts for 4 months is 120.

Comment:  Graphics look ok and seem well designed for this purpose.  You can request new graphics and templates if what you are looking for is not available.  They will then make those available in their pool. 

myHistro (timeline maker)

This is a bit different. It is free to use on the web and there is an Apple app for it as well.
It makes interactive geo-located timelines can be downloaded as PDF or exported to google earth.
It is being marketed as a social memory bank: MyHistro is the social memory-bank, created on the same foundation of combining maps and timelines as of the one-of-a-kind history site Histrodamus

This could be a great tool for some who want to do a different kind of digital storytelling.

Timeline (Knightlab)

Is an open-source timeline maker with lots of different features and highly regarded as one of the most interactive free timeline creation tools.  It works with Google tables to layout the timeline. You must download the template to use with this timeline maker.  Images can be added to the timeline.
