2017 Web Presence Checklist

1. Be sure your profile is complete on all web sites where you can be found.

Use a consistent name, include contact info, a consistent photo, a web link to your primary web presence, consider a slogan or catch phrase, etc.

2. Improve your email signature (email footer).

Include a link to your primary channel(s). Include a timely message.

3. Create and maintain links among all of your channels, blog posts, profiles, etc. All channels
4. Create notifications to inform you when your name, organization, or cause is mentioned on the web. Google Alerts

5. Start a mailing list.

Insert the mailing list subscription form code on your web site, Facebook page, blog posts, etc. Deliver your content on a regular basis. (You're building a base of followers, not spamming unknown recipients.)

6. Ask questions to find out more information about your followers.

7. Identify at least 25 keywords or phrases that people may search on to find your cause.

This is for those people that don't know your name or your organization. Repeat this exercise on a regular basis.

8. Follow the most influential people that can inform you or support your cause.

Help promote them and their causes. Look for partnership opportunities. Publish quotations from inspirational sources and thought leaders in your field.

9. Ask for reviews from happy clients, workshop attendees, subscribers, etc. Facebook, etc.
10. Be a guest blog writer on an influential web site and include links back to your site.

Invite prominent people in your area of interest to be guest writers.

Better yet, interview them (and record the video).

11. Post visual content.
Studies have proven visual content has increased response rates over plain text.

Promote a blog post by including it in your LinkedIn and Facebook profiles, turn an interview into a YouTube video, put a presentation on SlideShare, make an infographic to summarize your article.

20. Deliver content that is of value to your audience, even if it is not directly related to your primary message. Not sure what to write?

21. Create a measurable call to action page.

Offer something that readers can respond to: discount coupon, free consultation, checklist. Use the response form to find out more about your followers.

23. Write original content (original articles on your subject, training material) and package as an "e-book" for your subscribers.

Important: plan for long shelf life content, not short term immediate responses.
