New HR phone prompts

In an effort to better serve UD employees, the Office of Human Resources is launching a new phone prompt system that will help callers navigate options within HR. Starting Monday, Aug. 20, when you call our office, you will be prompted to select from a menu that includes payroll, employee relations, workers compensation, benefits and more. Please call us any time, at 302-831-2171. You can also email us at hrhelp@udel.edu.

Retirement workshops and information booth

TIAA will be hosting retirement workshops on the Newark campus today, Aug. 16, and Thursday, Sept. 20. TIAA will also host a general information booth for questions and assistance with accounts, no appointment necessary. Learn more.

Workplace Perspectives - Leading and Performing in Chaotic Times

Join us in Trabant Theater on Aug. 28 from 10-11:30 a.m. for a discussion with Chris Haggerty, senior consultant at FMG Leading and former member of the U.S. Navy SEALs. Chris specializes in high performance team development and coaching. Drawing on his years of specialized training, he helps participants break through personal, professional and performance barriers. Social Security pre-retirement workshops

Matthew Baxter, a representative from the Social Security Administration, will be on campus Aug. 30 to provide information about social security regulations and answer questions about social security and retirement. Two sessions will be offered: 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Both sessions will be held at the Center for Composite Material, room 106. Register to attend.

Blue Hen Fridays

The kickoff to UD's year-round #BlueHenFridays series is Friday, Sept. 7, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on The Green. Come out for games, food, prizes and more! Be sure to wear blue and gold on the 7th—and every Friday thereafter—to show your Blue Hen spirit.

State pension pre-retirement workshops

The State of Delaware Office of Pensions is hosting free workshops for employees who participate in the State Employee Pension Plan. Bring your annual pension statement and learn how to prepare your estimated benefit using the Pension Office website. Workshops will be held various dates in September and October in New Castle, Kent and Sussex counties. There is no cost or pre-registration required to attend. Learn more.

Leadership and service award

HR is seeking nominations for the annual John Warren Excellence in Leadership and Service Award, which recognizes outstanding supervisors who have achieved significant accomplishments in leadership and service. Employees are encouraged to nominate supervisory staff in any department or unit at the University. Award winners will receive a plaque of appreciation and a $1,000 monetary gift. Exit interview survey

To assist Human Resources in gaining valuable insight on employee experiences and areas for improvement, we encourage all departing employees to complete an exit interview survey before leaving the University. The survey can be completed online or in person with Employee Relations. Access the survey.

HR fundamentals certificate

The latest certificate program, UD HR Fundamentals, is now available to full-time employees. Participants will learn about human resources activities, particularly those that require completing forms such as the JED. Enroll through ConnectingU.

Tuition exchange

Faculty and staff applications for Tuition Exchange Program (TEP) 2019-20 academic year scholarships are now open. Those interested in applying should do so through the educational benefits web form by Oct. 24. TEP is a reciprocal scholarship opportunity for dependents of eligible faculty and staff at member schools nationwide. Learn more.
