TIAA Contract Transition

On or about Dec. 9, all employees who are currently participating in TIAA retirement plans—including terminated participants who have balances in mutual funds—will be enrolled in new accounts. Some current investment options will no longer be available. Review the transition guide that was mailed to eligible employees, attend an information session, or schedule a one-on-one advice session with an on-campus TIAA consultant to learn more about these important changes.

Winter Session Book Club

Talent Development will host a Winter Session book club for UD employees, featuring Crucial Conversations: Tools for Talking When Stakes Are High, by Kerry Patterson, et. al. Sessions will be held via Zoom on Wednesdays from Jan. 8 through 29 at 1 p.m. The book gives readers the tools to: prepare for high-stakes situations; transform anger and hurt feelings into powerful dialogue; make it safe to talk about almost anything; and to be persuasive, not abrasive.

The first 30 people who register will receive a complimentary copy of the book.

Save the date: 2019 UD Travel Expo

The 2019 University of Delaware Travel Expo will be held on Thursday, Dec. 5 in the Audion of the Tower at STAR Campus. There will be two open house sessions for all faculty and staff: 9:30-11:30 a.m. and 1:30-3:30 p.m. Participants will be able to talk with UD's travel partners, including representatives from World Travel Inc., Concur, Drum Cussac, Geo Blue, Hertz, Courtyard by Marriott, and many more. A drawing will feature a variety of prizes. Register to attend.

United Way campaign

The 2019 United Way of Delaware campaign at UD is underway through Friday, Dec. 13. To make your pledge electronically, use the personalized link you received via email on Tuesday, Nov. 19 and log into the system. The United Way of Delaware supports more than 100 agencies with such key goals as helping children and youth achieve their potential; promoting financial stability and independence; and focusing on college and career readiness. The UD Health Diabetes Care and Prevention Open House will take place Jan. 9 from 4-7 p.m. at the Tower at STAR Audion. The event will showcase the collaborative healthcare and preventative services available at UD Health. Take part in free biometric screenings, dynamic discussions and cooking demonstrations.
