News you need

Performance appraisals

Don’t forget, completed performance appraisals are due March 31. For more information and to get started, review the Performance Management Overview. Employee development resources are available in ConnectingU on the HR Atlas under Employee Relations & Performance.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA) deadline

For employees enrolled in a 2017 FSA through ASIFlex, March 15 marks the end of the grace period that allows you to continue incurring expenses. Participants must file any outstanding claims for reimbursement by May 1. Any remaining unused balance from the 2017 plan year will be forfeited at the end of the grace period, per IRS regulations. Learn more about FSAs including eligible expenses and how to submit a claim.

Telehealth

Did you know telemedicine is available to faculty and staff covered under the Highmark and Aetna non-Medicare health plans? Physician consultations are performed via telephone or online for non-emergency medical issues, such as coughs, sinus infections, sore throats, fevers, flu, colds, skin rashes and headaches. Telemedicine should be used when your primary care doctor’s office is closed, when you are unable to get an appointment with your doctor immediately or when you are traveling and away from home. For more information, visit Highmark (Amwell and Doctor on Demand) or Aetna (Teledoc).

FYI

Read Across America

Spread the joy of reading! The National Education Association’s Read Across America is a nationwide reading awareness and celebration program that takes place annually on March 2—Dr. Seuss’s birthday. UD will partner once again with United Way of Delaware (UWDE) at UD’s Early Learning Center for the event. Sign up to be a reader or room ambassador, or email UWDE to arrange a book donation.

Exit interview survey

To assist Human Resources in gaining valuable insight on employee experiences and areas for improvement, we encourage all departing employees to complete an Exit Interview Survey before they leave the University. The survey can be completed online or in person with Employee Relations.
