Thunderbird 6: Configure UD LDAP server (Mac)

The following instructions will help you set up an LDAP directory service in Thunderbird on a Mac computer. This will allow you to search for University contacts when you are composing a message.

  1. Open Thunderbird if it is not already open.
  2. In the left panel, click your account name (e.g., frank@udel.edu).
  3. In the panel on the right, click View settings for this account.
  4. In the left panel, click Composition and Addressing.
  5. Under Addressing, select the Use a different LDAP server button.
  6. Click Edit Directories.
  7. Click the Add button.
  8. In the new window, type the following information:

    Field Value
    Name University of Delaware
    Hostname ldap.udel.edu
    Base DN o=udel.edu

  9. Click OK.
  10. Click OK again.
  11. From the drop-down list, choose University of Delaware.
  12. Click OK.
