Dr. Yasser Thabet is the Broadcast Editor of Al Jazeera Satellite Television, headquartered in Doha, Qatar. Al Jazeera reaches a daily audience of 35 million viewers across the Middle East.

He is responsible for selecting which stories and events will be broadcast on Al Jazeera according to its news policies. He is the former head of the foreign affairs section of Al-Ahram Al-Massa'i newspaper in Cairo, Egypt and is a member of the International Organization of Journalists. Dr. Thabet received an M.A. in journalism from the Centre for Journalism Studies at the University of Wales and a Ph.D. in journalism from Barrington University in Alabama.

He has been on the faculty of the Salzburg Seminars on two occasions.
