The purpose of the Delaware Social Studies Summer Institute for Teachers is to develop a cadre of elementary school teachers who will provide district and school inservice workshops designed to integrate reading instruction with social studies instruction, guided by the state standards in both areas. The 2001 session (June 18th-July 3rd) is being sponsored by the Delaware Social Studies Education Project, The Delaware Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship, the Delaware Geographic Alliance, and the University of Delaware History and Political Science Departments.
