See the introductory page for more information.

You must fill out all fields on this form for your request to be processed.

Your complete e-mail address in the form username@system_name.
For example, type johndoe@udel.edu, not johndoe:

Project number: This must not be 4000.

What is your current disk quota?

In your home directory on /home/strauss/usrc: megabytes

On other disk/file servers: megabytes

How much disk space do you need?

I need a total disk allocation of: megabytes.
(Note: 1 megabyte = 1024 kilobytes; 1 gigabyte = 1024 megabytes. All users are initially given a disk quota of 4096 kilobytes (4 megabytes) in their home directories.)

Please supply a justification below for this change in allocation. Include software to be used and any special comments, requests, or circumstances.

If you are requesting more than 50 Mbytes as the total disk allocation, read the following before typing your disk-allocation justification.

Large disk allocations are generally assigned to the Hierarchical Storage Manager (HSM) disk system. However, the HSM is for "archival storage" only and should not be used as a "working directory." In other words, you should only put stable, unchanging files on the HSM disk system.

Therefore, we will also provide you with an supplemental disk allocation on a non-HSM disk system where you should first prepare your large files. Once the files are stable, they should be left on the non-HSM disk system for 7 days to ensure that they are properly written on backup tapes by Information Technologies staff. You would then move these files to the HSM (and remove them from the non-HSM system), thereby providing easy future access from the HSM system.

Please indicate how much disk space you will need on the non-HSM system for your program files, documentation and any large files you'll be producing. Further indicate how much disk space you'll need on the HSM disk system for archival purposes of your resulting large stable files. Your overall need should match the total requested above.
