Kate Scantlebury to Receive Distinguished Education Alumni Award from Purdue University

PhotoProfessor Katherine Scantlebury has been awarded Purdue’s Distinguished Education Alumni Award. Kate and other recipients of this award are being recognized for professional achievements and service to society, which warrant special acclaim and recognition. Kate earned her Ph.D. in chemistry education from Purdue University in 1990 and is currently a professor of Chemistry and Secondary Science Education Coordinator at the University of Delaware in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Fellow 2011 nominees for this prestigious award are: David Fenell, PhD ’79, Professor, University of Colorado; Jane Foley, CLA BA ’73, CLA MS ’77, Edu PhD ’92, Senior VP, Milken Educator Awards; Penny Britton Kolloff, Phd ’83, Associate Professor Emerita, Illinois State University; Jack Miller, PhD ’74, President, Central Connecticut State University; Sam Mayhugh, MS ’65, President, Integrated Behavioral Health.

Recipients were presented their award on Thursday, October 6, 2011 during the College of Education’s awards ceremony and reception. They were also invited to stay through October 7th to share their experiences and insights in a series of informal discussions with current Purdue students and faculty.
