I decided to become a Writing Fellow sophomore
year after realizing that the statements on the back of the
recruitment letter described me well: "I like to talk to people," "I
want to build my writing skills," and "I am good at helping other
students." I liked the idea of adding a sort of
reading/writing/tutoring activity into my schedule, but I didn't
realize how rewarding the Writing experience would actually be for
both me and the students I have fellowed.
I am a Senior and a
Physics major with a minor in Art; I participate in choir and in coed
intramural soccer; I am the Vice President of the Society of Physics
Students; and I am now in the process of applying to Graduate
schools. I'm planning to get a Master's (maybe a Ph.D.) in Geophysics
with a focus possibly on Seismology and Tectonics, Marine Geology and
Geophysics, or Volcanology . . . such specifics are yet to be
decided!
In general, I am a very
busy person, which is the way in which I try to use my time most
effectively to accomplish my goals and enjoy my college life; but I am
always willing to give my time to help fellow students, which is where
my role as a Writing Fellow fits in.
