More than 120 individuals from the campus and community volunteered their time and effort to record the messages and preserve the approximately 4,000 ribbons that had been placed in the University of Delaware’s Ribbon Garden as a memorial to the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
The Ribbon Garden on UD’s South Green near Memorial Hall was in place from Friday, Sept. 14, through Sunday, Sept. 23, and gave members of the University community an opportunity to write personal messages of support, hope and love on yellow ribbons and tie them in the garden. At the same time, participants could make donations to the American Red Cross.
Students and staff of the Christiana Towers Residence Hall Complex re-created the American flag in lights across the west tower.
