Panama Canal subject of engineering lecture

ALUMNI | Dennis C. Russell, EG ’74, who has more than 35 years of career experience in marine construction, delivered the inaugural Donn E. Hancher Lecture at the University of Kentucky in November.


Russell, general manager of the Marine Division of Goettle Engineering and Construction in Cincinnati, spoke about the company’s project that is part of the expansion of the Panama Canal. At the lecture, he was presented a plaque from William F. Maloney, EG ’68, BE ’73M, who is the Raymond-Shaver Chair of Construction Engineering and Project Management at the University of Kentucky.

Russell has worked on marine construction projects on the East Coast, the Ohio and Mississippi rivers and in Alaska. Goettle is one of the nation’s largest geotechnical engineering and construction firms.
