Hall of Fame honors eight newest members

SPORTS | The UD Athletics Hall of Fame's eight-person Class of 2010 represents 11 different sports programs and brings the hall's membership to 119. For more about the new class and previous inductees, visit bluehens.com. The new members are:

All-region field hockey player Kelly Cawley Williamson, a high-scoring forward with the Blue Hens in 1995-98, helped lead nationally ranked Delaware teams to three conference tournament appearances.

Wade Coleman, one of the top weight throwers and hammer throwers in UD men's track and field history, set impressive standards that still top the school's charts nearly two decades after he graduated in 1993.

A highly successful and enduring Blue Hen coach, Loren Kline led the men's soccer program for 30 seasons with a record number of wins and was an assistant for the wrestling squad for 26 campaigns.

Kim Mitchell Kogon, an accomplished distance runner, enjoyed a record-setting career from 1982-85 in three different sports, cross country and indoor and outdoor track. She died in 2007 and was honored posthumously.

Two-time all-conference volleyball player Emily Rome, one of the most decorated UD athletes in her sport, played the starring role during an impressive four-year run by the Hens from 1992-95.

Greg Smith, known as a steady forward for UD men's basketball, was a smooth scoring machine for the Hens during the mid-1990s, breaking the career scoring mark that had stood for 15 years.

Few players in the rich history of Delaware football were as adept at running with the ball as Tony Toto, a star fullback during the mid-1950s who led UD to a three-year mark of 17-7-1 and set several school records.

Known for his ability to direct the Wing-T offense to near perfection in 1989-92, quarterback Bill Vergantino established 24 school records and led the Hens to two Lambert Cup trophies.
