University printing facility hosting open house for faculty, students on March 23


2:43 p.m., March 16, 2016--Blue Print 3D Studio at the University of Delaware will host an open house from 2-5 p.m., Wednesday, March 23, in the basement of Smith Hall (Room 004). Informational tours, tips for curriculum integration and light refreshments will be provided. 

Faculty members interested in implementing 3-D print projects into their courses are encouraged to visit the open house and to learn about the integration process. All current UD students curious about 3-D printing are also welcome to visit.

All UD faculty and staff members are invited to attend the annual UDid It! employee appreciation picnic, set from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Monday, June 6, on The Green.

If you are using two-factor authentication (2FA), even if a hacker has your password, your information is probably safe.

Many faculty members have already contacted Blue Print staff about using the center to support their teaching, from 3-D topographical maps and art projects to parts for mechanical engineering courses.

Information will also be provided at the open house about the first inaugural Student Design Challenge. The contest is intended to increase awareness of 3-D printing and design among UD students by sparking interest among novices and experts alike. The deadline to submit is May 6. 

Blue Print 3D Studio, presented by University of Delaware Information Technologies and Faculty Commons, is the only 3-D printing service on campus open to every student, faculty and staff member regardless of their major, department or class affiliation. The service will be free for a limited time. 

Dustyn Roberts, assistant professor of mechanical engineering, and Jon Cox, assistant professor of art, spearheaded the campuswide 3-D printing initiative after they were awarded a 2015 Transformation Grant.
