
Oct. 1: CNN's Hamby to speak
National Agenda to feature CNN political reporter Peter Hamby
11:55 a.m., Sept. 25, 2014--The University of Delaware’s National Agenda speaker series will present CNN Digital national political reporter Peter Hamby at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, in Mitchell Hall.
The talk, titled “Boy on the Bus,” is free and open to the public.

Hamby has covered some of the highest profile political stories of the Barack Obama era, including the 2008 and 2012 presidential races, the impact of the tea party and the Republican resurgence of 2010.
He has traveled with the campaigns of Mitt Romney, Hillary Clinton, John McCain and Sarah Palin.
Based in Washington, D.C., Hamby focuses his attention beyond the Beltway to tackle the politics, policies and campaigns that affect the nation at state and local levels.
His work, including in-depth articles, analysis and a political video franchise, is integrated across all CNN Digital platforms and CNN television.
Hamby received a bachelor of arts degree in English from Georgetown University and a master’s in journalism from New York University. He also studied at the University of Cape Town in South Africa.
The 2014 National Agenda speaker series, presented by UD’s Center for Political Communication, is titled “The Battle for Congress.”
Sessions are moderated by Ralph Begleiter, center director.
The next event in the National Agenda series will be the Delaware Debates on Wednesday, Oct. 15. Presented by Delaware First Media and UD, the debates will feature state candidates for the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives.
This year, National Agenda alternates with a political film series and the next screening will feature Dr. Strangelove at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 8, also in Mitchell Hall. This series, “Fade to Black: Dark Political Humor in American Film,” is moderated by Lindsay Hoffman, associate professor of communication.
