Drake Hall reopens after fire incident
2:05 p.m., Oct. 22, 2014--A fire shortly before noon, Wednesday, Oct. 22, closed Drake Hall, along with Brown Laboratory, which was also evacuated. Both buildings have now reopened.
There were no injuries reported in the incident.

As it neared time for the processional to open the University of Delaware Commencement ceremonies, graduating students and faculty members shared their feelings about what the event means to them.
Doctoral hooding
It was a day of triumph, cheers and collective relief as more than 160 students from 21 nations participated in the University of Delaware's Doctoral Hooding Convocation held Friday morning on The Green.
The fire started in a small piece of lab equipment and was put out with a fire extinguisher.
The site was checked for contamination and none was found.
Academy Street between Delaware Avenue and Courtney Street was closed part of Wednesday afternoon.
