4-H Science Saturdays
4-H to hold Science Saturdays for youths 8-12 starting in April
3:07 p.m., March 19, 2015--The University of Delaware Cooperative Extension 4-H program will hold a series of six Science Saturdays on the first Saturdays of April, May, September, October, November and December at different locations around the state.
Locations include the UD campus in Newark, the New Castle County Cooperative Extension Office and Mallard Lodge in Smyrna.

The cost of each workshop is $10 and the sessions are for youths ages 8-12.
The workshops are co-sponsored by Dow Chemical and 4-H, and are designed to give participants hands-on experiences in animal science, entomology, habitat conservation, geocaching, math, wetlands ecology and waterfowl biology, biotechnology, forensics, food science and chemistry.
The first Science Saturday will be held on Saturday, April 4, from 9 a.m.-noon, at the New Castle County Cooperative Extension Office. During this “Be a Food Scientist” workshop, participants will experiment with making their own beverages, learn about sugar crystallization through candy-making and conduct an experiment to extract gluten from various types of flour.
Registration for the first workshop is due by Tuesday, March 31.
