Campus Stories

From graduates, faculty

As it neared time for the processional to open the University of Delaware Commencement ceremonies, graduating students and faculty members shared their feelings about what the event means to them.

Doctoral hooding

It was a day of triumph, cheers and collective relief as more than 160 students from 21 nations participated in the University of Delaware's Doctoral Hooding Convocation held Friday morning on The Green.

The cost of each workshop is $10 and the sessions are for youths ages 8-12.

The workshops are co-sponsored by Dow Chemical and 4-H, and are designed to give participants hands-on experiences in animal science, entomology, habitat conservation, geocaching, math, wetlands ecology and waterfowl biology, biotechnology, forensics, food science and chemistry.

The first Science Saturday will be held on Saturday, April 4, from 9 a.m.-noon, at the New Castle County Cooperative Extension Office. During this “Be a Food Scientist” workshop, participants will experiment with making their own beverages, learn about sugar crystallization through candy-making and conduct an experiment to extract gluten from various types of flour.

Registration for the first workshop is due by Tuesday, March 31.
