Sept. 15: Yagoda to speak
University Library to host lecture by Ben Yagoda on American music
9:26 a.m., June 16, 2015--The University of Delaware Library will host a lecture by Ben Yagoda, professor of English, at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 15, in the Reading Room of the Morris Library.
Yagoda will speak on his recent book The B-Side: The Death of Tin Pan Alley and the Rebirth of the Great American Song.

Michael Feinstein wrote in The New York Times that The B-Side is a “welcome and eloquent chronicle of the popular song, putting it in proper perspective by offering a panoramic history of what happened to music in the last century.”
Yagoda, who received a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a master’s from the University of Pennsylvania, teaches courses in journalism and nonfiction writing.
He is the author of About Town: The New Yorker and the World It Made (Scribner, 2000) and Will Rogers: A Biography (Alfred A. Knopf, 1993) and the coeditor of The Art of Fact: A Historical Anthology of Literary Journalism (Scribner, 1997). He has contributed articles, essays and reviews to more than 50 national publications, including Esquire, the New York Times Magazine and the New York Times Book Review.
