Anita Brown, manager in the business office, complimented Johnson as being a hard-working individual who recently agreed to take on a hybrid role of financial processing and managing HR liaison support.

“She has a very full workload,” Brown said. “During the past quarter we had a retirement in the business office team, and Tyrese willingly stepped in to support the entire HR liaison workload during the search for a new colleague.”

Brown added that Johnson provides excellent service and support to the departments and individuals she interacts with on a daily basis and is quick to follow up and bring items to resolution.

“Tyrese constantly exhibits a positive attitude and upbeat personality, and is a joy to work with,” Brown said. “She is an extremely valuable member of our team and this recognition is well deserved.”

Christine Cook, senior business officer in the College of Engineering, lauded Johnson for her contributions as an individual and coworker.

“Whether it is filling in during a vacancy or shifting her workload to meet the demands of the changing environment, Tyrese is willing to help her team in any way,” Cook said. “Tyrese is always smiling; she is nearly unflappable and takes her many tasks in stride, making the best of every day.”

Christine Shinn, HR generalist in the college, said that working with Johnson is like having an excellent utility player on a baseball team because she does whatever it takes to help her team win.

“Every time my phone rings and it is Tyrese, I am sure that we will accomplish something and that we will share a laugh,” Shinn said. “She maintains a very calm, steady state in the office, but somehow mixes in the right sense of urgency.”

Being recognized for her hard work is both awesome and very much appreciated, Johnson said.

“My work is very deadline driven, which makes it very exciting, but I couldn’t do it without the help of my coworkers, who are a joy to work with every day,” Johnson said. “I love being busy and helping the departments I support is a great feeling.”
