University alumni invited to enjoy Philadelphia Orchestra performance
11:40 a.m., Jan. 23, 2015--University of Delaware alumni are invited to enjoy a performance of the Philadelphia Orchestra, which will follow a private tour of the Kimmel Center, on Saturday, March 28.
The tour and performance, being sponsored by the Philadelphia Alumni Club, will include a look backstage at the entertainment venue.

The event is open to all area Blue Hens, and there also will be round-trip bus transportation from Lancaster to Philadelphia.

Thursday, Jan. 29, 6:30 p.m.: Bocce ball in New York. The New York City Alumni Club will offer bocce ball night in Brooklyn’s Union Hall.
Saturday, Jan. 31, 11 a.m.: Sackler Gallery ‘Traveler’s Eye’ tour. Alumni are invited to a free private tour of the exhibition “The Traveler’s Eye: Scenes of Asia” at the Sackler Gallery in Washington, D.C.
Thursday, Feb. 5, 6 p.m.: Chicago brewery tour. The Chicago Alumni Club will host a tour of the Revolution Brewery.
Saturday, Feb. 7, 11 a.m.: Blue Hens men’s basketball in Boston. Alumni in the Boston area can support the UD men’s basketball team as the Blue Hens take on Northeastern University in a Colonial Athletic Association contest at Matthews Arena.
Saturday, Feb. 14, 1 p.m.: Valentine’s Day skating. Alumni are invited to enjoy Valentine’s Day skating in an inaugural event at UD’s Fred Rust Ice Arena.
Tuesday, Feb. 17, 5:30 p.m.: Art history lecture. The UD Art History Graduate Student Lecture Series will feature a presentation by William Noel of the University of Pennsylvania titled “You’ve Got to See It Before You Can Read It: The Archimedes Palimpset and Other Open Data.” Noel is director of the Kislak Center for Special Collections, Rare Books and Manuscripts and of the Schoenberg Institute for Manuscript Studies in the Penn Libraries.
Thursday, Feb. 19, 5 p.m.: Pittsburgh Penguins hockey. Alumni are invited to attend an NHL game at the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, with the Penguins battling the Columbus Blue Jackets. The game will be preceded by a reception at the Pittsburgh Grille.
Friday, Feb. 20, 6 p.m.: Philadelphia 76ers basketball. Blue Hens will gather to watch the Philadelphia 76ers host the Indiana Pacers in an NBA game at the Wells Fargo Center.
Saturday, Feb. 21, 1 p.m.: New York Public Library Schwarzman Building. The New York City Alumni Club will sponsor a guided tour of the New York Public Library’s Stephen A. Schwarzman Building.
Saturday, Feb. 28, 2 p.m.: Baltimore Brewer’s Art tour. Alumni in the Baltimore area are invited to an afternoon tour of Brewer’s Art on North Charles Street, which will include a tasting.
Saturday, Feb. 28, 5:30 p.m.: Hershey Bears hockey. The Lancaster Alumni Club invites Blue Hens to an American Hockey League game featuring the Hershey Bears and the Albany Devils at the Giant Center in Hershey. There will be a pregame reception at the Bears Den at Hershey Lodge.
Saturday, Feb. 28, 7 p.m.: Men’s crew alumni winter party. The UD Men’s Crew Alumni Association invites members and guests to its ninth annual winter party on Boathouse Row in Philadelphia.
Wednesday, March 11, 4 p.m.: Art history presentations. UD art history graduate student presentations will be moderated by Lauren Petersen, professor and director of graduate studies.
Wednesday, March 25, 5:30 p.m.: Art history lecture. The UD Art History Graduate Student Lecture Series will feature a presentation by Joel Smith, the Richard L. Menschel Curator and head of the Department of Photography at the Morgan Library and Museum in New York City. Smith will discuss “A Collective Invention: Photography and Its Objects.”
Saturday, March 28: ‘Philadelphia Orchestra Experience.’ UD alumni are invited to tour the Kimmel Center and enjoy a performance of the Philadelphia Orchestra. There also will be round-trip bus transportation from Lancaster.
Tuesday, April 7, 5 p.m.: Philadelphia Flyers hockey. Alumni are invited to watch the Philadelphia Flyers take on the New York Islanders in an NHL game at the Wells Fargo Center. The game will be preceded by a gathering at McFadden’s Ballpark.
Tuesday, April 14, 5:30 p.m.: Art history lecture. The UD Art History Graduate Student Lecture Series will feature a presentation by Keith Christiansen, chair of European paintings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He will speak on the topic “Working from Life in the Age of Caravaggio.”
