UD's Delle Donne wins WNBA rookie of the month honor for third time

1:40 p.m., Sept. 4, 2013--University of Delaware alumna Elena Delle Donne of the Chicago Sky has been named the WNBA rookie of the month for August, the third time this season she has been so honored.

Delle Donne also was named the league’s top rookie in June and July.

Unsung Hero

The One Love Foundation has announced that University of Delaware men's lacrosse standout Elijah Conte has been selected as a winner of the 2016 YRL Unsung Hero Award.

In August, Delle Donne led the WNBA in three-point percentage, shooting 59.3 percent from behind the arc, and led all rookies in scoring, with 18.4 points per game, and rebounding, with 5.8 per game.

As of Wednesday, the Sky was 21-8 atop the East Conference and had clinched its first playoff berth.

Chicago will play a home game on Friday, Sept. 6, and will visit Washington, D.C., on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 8. A trip to the Washington game is being organized by UD’s Office of Alumni Relations. For details, see the website.
