Tribute to Prof. Robert Schweitzer set Sept. 23
1:14 p.m., Sept. 6, 2013--A memorial service for Prof. Robert Schweitzer, who died July 7, will be held from 6-8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 23, in Clayton Hall on the University of Delaware's Laird Campus in Newark.

Prof. Schweitzer, 63, was the Donald J. Puglisi Professor of Finance and Administration in the Lerner College of Business and Economics. He joined the UD faculty in 1980 and was the first chairperson of the Department of Finance, serving from 1990-97. He also directed UD's Financial Institutions Research and Education Center and served on numerous dissertation and thesis committees for degree candidates in the Department of Economics. In 2006, he received the college's Student Choice Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award.
Bruce Weber, dean of the college, said, "Bob was a dedicated teacher, an energetic and creative scholar and an unwavering and highly visible supporter of the University of Delaware and its students in the classroom, in intercollegiate athletics and in their educational and professional pursuits."
