About UREL

The Office of Undergraduate Research and Experiential Learning consists of four co-curricular programs: Undergraduate Research, McNair Scholars, ArtsBridge America and the Office of Service Learning. Each program comes with a unique set of opportunities for discovery learning outside the classroom.

Undergraduate Research: The Undergraduate Research Program gives sophomores, juniors and seniors the chance to make exciting contributions to the scholarly community. This program fosters faculty-student collaboration by allowing students to conduct intensive research with a faculty mentor for 10 weeks in the summer.

McNair Scholars: The purpose of the McNair Scholars Program is to prepare, empower and expose talented low-income, first-generation and underrepresented students toward the pursuit of a doctoral degree. Through a collaborative mentoring environment and simulated graduate school experience, students will gain the competencies needed to graduate as distinguished scholars with enhanced communication, leadership, intercultural, research methodology and critical thinking skills.

Service Learning: The Office of Service Learning (OSL) engages students in addressing the needs of the larger society. The OSL supports faculty interested in developing service-learning courses and community-engaged projects, helps students design individual projects, and serves as a liaison for community partners interested in exploring new connections with the University.

ArtsBridge: ArtsBridge America is a national program that provides students in the arts with the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills as teaching artists. The focus at UD is on the integration of the arts into the curriculum.
